Cult Study - Joan Jett

" I feel like a Roadrunner..."

Caught in a whirlwind. Not so. Not soon. My latest entry into Cult Music listening is Joan Jett. Accidentally discovered in her teenager photograph while fulfilling a whimsical search on September cusp Virgo - Libra. Born on September 22nd, 1958, the eldest of her siblings Joan was gifted her first guitar at the age of fourteen. Fed up with guitar lessons about folk songs, Joan knew she wished to move on and do something that spoke more about herself, building something which was not the anarchist punk and reclined on the riffs of 'rock  n roll'. Smitten by the limelight of Los Angles, Joan started off her career with Fowley's all girl rock band, The Runaways. In spite of their petty disputes that surrounded her it nonetheless produced two significant female rock guitarists, Joan and Lita.

A strong feminist, Joan when splitting from The Runaways meandered solo before publishing in LA. Weekly "looking for three good men", eventually forming of what Joan became known for - Joan Jett and Blackhearts. She stirred The Billboard with hits like 'I Love Rock n Roll' and 'Bad Reputation' in the early 80's, creating a fanbase majorly around the world with her 'badassery' pop icon style she exuded.

Into her sixth decade, Joan is one of the most candid rock n roll stars to be spotted around. Appearing everywhere from TV shows, award ceremonies or maybe even to sing a karaoke with Ellen at her show to a standing ovation from the audience every time.

At Letterman's in late eighties ( I didn't get a full version of this interview ).

Her sexiness is yet defined by her raspy voice and edgy spikes of her hair as seen below, decked up all in leather even during the days of The Runaways, Jett proves that she's always pulled an exclusive sense of style meant for the ones who know how to rock.

A fad. Perhaps. An inspiration. More than yes. A cult. She roared. To sum up, I applaud to modesty which makes Joan fill the Blackhearts with exuberance and joy of freedom she pours into Rock n Roll.

And

*drumroll*
